Sara Working on a Pivot

Today was an interesting day. We spent the morning doing Pivots. The three pivots that we completed were about Freefall, Collisions, and Forces of Objects on a Ramp. It was very interesting to see how the topics we have been learning about all come together and how they can be used in the real world.

All of our BrushBots

After lunch, we got to make brush bots! we built these robots made of toothbrush heads, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, a battery, and little motors. The motors allowed the robots to vibrate which caused them to move. All of our brush bots ended up spinning in circles instead of going in a straight line. It was very difficult to get it to go in a straight line because you had to get the legs to be the perfect length and angled the right way. At the end, we all named our brush bots and then put them up as a decoration in the science lab.

Alex about to collect data

After this, we took the roller coaster that we made yesterday and took data on the velocity and acceleration. It was nice to see our creation work properly and collect data. This was really fun, but sadly all good things must come to an end. we destroyed it with grace and elegance. It was sad to see our hard work crumble to the ground with our hands, but the only consolation was being able to make more roller coasters.  Alex started to construct a roller coaster designed to do collisions. While, Kilali and I went back to working on our marble run, which we started on Day 1. It was really nice to see that the improvements that we are doing make the marble run go smoother.
